   Mrs. Opal S. Childers, 91, of Harristown , Illinois, died at 4:25 p.m.
Tuesday (October 18, 2011) in Heritage Health Care Center, Springfield, Illinois.
 
   Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, 515 West Wood Street, Decatur, Illinois.
 
 Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
 
   The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home , 1435 State Street, Quincy, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
 
   Born August 23, 1920 in Celina, Tennessee, Opal was the daughter of Emma
(Pritchard) and Bailey Sullivan. She married Victor L. Childers on June 28, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri He preceded her in death on July 16, 1996.
 
   Opal was a member of the Harristown Christian Church. She and her husband Vic owned Childers' Market at Wyckles Corner in Decatur for many years. Opal was later employed at the Holiday Inn in Decatur.
 
   Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Hofferkamp of Harristown and Karen Troute and husband, Lynn of Springfield; three grandchildren, Rikki Whitney (Chris) of Harristown, Lisa Seitzer of Overland Park, KS and Stacia Saporta (David) , Huntley, IL; seven great grandchildren, Kelsy Whitney, Kristina Whitney, Monica Saporta, Nathan Saporta, Luke Saporta, Brandon Seitzer (Jessica) and Cameron Seitzer (fiance' Chelsea); a great great grandchild, Weston Seitzer; a brother, Gary Sullivan of Decatur; a sister, Jean Jones of Decatur; and many loving nieces and nephews.
 
   Mrs. Childers was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Vic; a son-in-law, Rodney Hofferkamp; four brothers; and three sisters. Opal was also preceded by a special sister, Jo Campbell, whom she and Vic raised as one of their own.
 
   Mom, you had a hard life, but always gave all you had to everyone else.
You loved and cared for us so unselfishly. We love you so much and will miss you always. You were the best Mom.
